The Richest Man In Babylon: Is Such Audio Book On Money Making Really Worth Its Cost?
I, like many others, can’t get enough knowledge. I constantly want to learn new things, and also being an entrepreneur, learning about making money is a great passion. Using my iTunes gift cards, I got myself an audio book to play while I was driving.
I took great care over this purchase as I do everything, and the positive reviews of The Richest Man in Babylon make me purchase it. What a waste of $4.95 that turned out to be.
I wasn’t impressed with the voice used, the old English tongue would quickly irritate many people, and there was only 4 hours of listening time in total.
To be honest, this book should be marketed towards those who are just starting out in the money making game and are eager to think themselves clever by decoding stories and finding the not too well hidden meanings. Most of the principals are obvious, though some are understated.
I personally think that The Richest Man in Babylon would have been better as one tale rather than a compilation. The tales jump from one to the other so the characterization gets very confused, but the stories themselves are very simple.
If you are hoping to learn something new from this book, you will be as disappointed as me. It preaches the old principal of the divisible income, you know the one. Spend 10% on investments, 70% on everyday needs and the remaining 20% on clearing debts.
There are lots of other nuggets of advice, which once again, will only benefit the greenest of listeners. Gems such as don’t gamble heavily and don’t accept investment advice from amateurs.
All this is well and good if you are either a child or a bit of an idiot, but if you have to be told this stuff you shouldn’t be working in finance.
Maybe the fact that I am vastly experienced and know a lot already made this book actually seem worse than it was, but I don’t think so. This book is for beginners, simple as that. I am not a beginner so it just confirmed everything that I already knew and gave me no new information at all. A pointless exercise on the whole.
The writer additionally often contributes articles about subjects such as Francis Francis espresso machine and Capresso espresso machine.
